Building Sustainable and Scalable Investments in Education and Skills Development
This high-level dialogue invites leaders from business, finance, philanthropy, and the public sector to discuss whether philanthropic capital can be more effectively mobilised to drive systemic investments and impact for education and skills development. The discussion will draw on several concrete examples, exploring emerging guarantee models to unlock financing and explore new approaches of how public-private-philanthropic partnerships can achieve evidence-based, systemic impact and financing at scale.

Transforming education and skills systems requires moving towards strategic partnerships that innovatively unlock and combine different forms of capital whether philanthropic, private or public. Philanthropic capital has predominantly sat outside the multilateral system, whereas other forms of capital have often operated in parallel structures. With public budgets under increasing pressure, we need to better connect our systems, instruments and infrastructure so that the capital that is available can deliver impact at scale. The event aims to create a collaborative space (e.g. fishbowl format) to discuss innovative, scalable financing approaches and tools for education delivery, leveraging education’s role as a cross-SDG accelerator.
