Dr. Inbal Becker-Reshef is RAAPID’s Founder. She is also the Founder and Co-Director of NASA Harvest, NASA’s Global Food Security and Agriculture Consortium, and serves as Managing Director of the Microsoft AI for Good Lab. She is a global leader in the application of satellite data, artificial intelligence, and advanced analytics to agricultural monitoring and food security, with work spanning from field-level decision support to national and global market analysis.
Dr. Becker-Reshef’s research and leadership focus on translating cutting-edge Earth observation science into operational tools that inform governments, international organizations, financial institutions, and humanitarian actors. Her work strengthens the quality, consistency, and accessibility of agricultural data, enabling earlier warning of food insecurity, improved market transparency, and more effective policy and investment decisions. At the intersection of science, technology, and policy, she is particularly committed to advancing anticipatory action frameworks and building nationally owned, sustainable data systems that support resilient food systems worldwide.
Her leadership and impact have been widely recognized, including receipt of the NASA Exceptional Public Service Medal, the APEC ASPIRE Prize, and the Arrell Food Prize. Through her work, Dr. Becker-Reshef continues to shape how satellite technology and AI are leveraged to improve global food security and agricultural sustainability.
