Camilo Mondragón-Vélez Panelist,

Senior Research Officer - International Finance Corporation (IFC)

Dr. Camilo Mondragón-Vélez is a Senior Research Officer and Head of the IFC Modeling Team under the organization’s Development Impact Unit since early 2015. He leads a team of economists in designing and implementing frameworks and economic models to assess and quantify the development impact of IFC and private sector interventions ex-ante. He holds a Ph.D. in Economics from Georgetown University.

Rajna Gibson Brandon

Founder and Professor - Geneva Finance Research Institute

Rajna Gibson Brandon is Professor of Finance at the University of Geneva since September 2008 and Deputy Director of the Geneva Finance Research Institute. She was the founder and the Director of the Geneva Finance Research Institute (GFRI) at the University of Geneva between 2009 and 2016, and is the Chairwomen and Managing Director of the Geneva Institute of Wealth Management (GIWM) since 2016. From 2007 until 2015, she was Head of Research at the Swiss Finance Institute. She was the Director of the National Centre of Competence in Research Finrisk from 2001 to 2009. She was previously Professor of Finance at the University of Zurich, at the University of Lausanne and she was Assistant – Professor in Finance at HEC, Paris and a visiting scholar at the University of California at Los Angeles and at New York University.
She was also Member of the Board of Directors of Swiss Re from June 2000 to April 2018 and is since November 2018, a Member of the Board of Directors of Group BNP, France and since May 2022, a Member of the Board of Directors of the Swiss National Bank (SNB). She is also a Member of the Surveillance Board of Sustainable Finance Geneva, a Member of the Academic Advisory Board of RepRisk and has been a Member of the Swiss Federal Banking Commission (currently FINMA) from 1997 to 2004.

Lorenzo Ciari

Director for Impact - European Bank for Reconstruction and Development (EBRD)

Lorenzo is the Director for Impact at the European Bank for Reconstruction and Development (EBRD) and manages the Impact Assessment team for all EBRD investments and responsible for the design and implementation of the Bank's Impact methodology, as well as impact reporting, results management and evaluation led by management. He was formerly Manager in the Sector Economics Department at IFC, working in the manufacturing, agribusiness, and services sectors (health, education, and tourism). Lorenzo holds a Ph.D. in Economics from the European University Institute (Florence) and has published in major journals mostly with a focus on empirical competition analysis.

Ugo Panizza

Deputy Director - Center for Finance and Development, Geneva Graduate Institute

Ugo Panizza is a Professor of Economics and Pictet Chair in Finance and Development at IHEID. He is a Vice President of CEPR, Fellow of the Fondazione Einaudi, Director of the International Center for Monetary and Banking Studies, Editor in Chief of Oxford Open Economics and International Development Policy, and Deputy Director of the Center for Finance and Development. He was Chief of the Debt and Finance Analysis Unit at the UNCTAD and Senior Economist at the Inter-American Development Bank. He also worked at the World Bank and taught at the American University of Beirut and the University of Torino.

Ernst von Kimakowitz

Co-Founder - Humanistic Management Network

Dr. Ernst von Kimakowitz is passionate about strengthening the positive impact of business towards a more equitable and more sustainable planet. He is co-founder and leads the Humanistic Management Network and Humanistic Management Center and is a Senior Research Fellow at the University of Lucerne in Switzerland. Ernst has been visiting faculty at universities around the globe and holds various editorial, reviewer, and board positions.

Dr. Thierry Buchs

Senior Policy Advisor - Swiss Agency for Development and Cooperation

Thierry Buchs is a seasoned emerging market economist specializing in development finance and impact management, with 15+ years of operational experience in various institutional and cultural contexts, in Switzerland, the U.S., and Latin America. A Swiss national, Thierry holds a PhD degree in international economics from the Geneva Graduate Institute and a Master’s Degree in international relations from Tufts University in Medford MA (Fletcher School of Law and Diplomacy).

Elise Beaufils

Deputy Head of Sustainability Research - Lombard Odier Investment Managers

Elise Beaufils joined Lombard Odier in 2018 and leads the quantitative research, development, and distribution of sustainability data for the Sustainable Investment Research Strategy and Stewardship (SIRSS) team. She is responsible for modeling company activities in order to measure climate risk in portfolios. Elise holds a master's degree in science from Mines ParisTech.
