Thomas Giroux

Thomas Giroux is an Assistant Professor in Sustainable Finance at ETH Zürich’s Department of Management, Technology and Economics (MTEC).
His research examines how climate and nature affect financial returns, and how investors can contribute to meaningful sustainability outcomes. His work spans sustainable finance, impact investing and risk modelling across public and private markets in both developed and emerging economies. By combining academic rigour with industry insights, he aims to generate actionable knowledge for investors and regulators and contribute to aligning the financial system with planetary and societal well-being. Thomas holds a PhD in applied mathematics and sustainable finance from CREST and Institut Polytechnique de Paris. Before joining academia, he worked as a quantitative researcher and global equity portfolio manager. He has also contributed to several initiatives fostering collaboration between academic researchers and financial practitioners.
