Dr. Jan Yves Remy is a leading trade law expert and educator with a distinguished career in advancing global trade policy and sustainability. As Director of the Shridath Ramphal Centre (SRC) at the University of the West Indies, she shapes the discourse on trade and development and coordinates the Masters in International Trade Policy (MITP) program. Her expertise spans WTO dispute settlement, Caribbean integration, sustainable trade, and gender in trade, with recognized roles as a WTO Chair, trade dispute panelist, and arbitrator. Formerly with the WTO’s Appellate Body Secretariat and Sidley Austin LLP, Dr. Remy now focuses on trade and sustainability issues for Small Island Developing States (SIDS).
Beyond SRC, she co-leads the Remaking Trade Project, serves as co-president of the TradeLab Network, and is a founding board member of Caribbean Women in Trade. She also supports emerging trade experts through initiatives like the Joint University Study Tour (JUST) to Geneva. A Certified Professional Co-Active Coach (CPCC), Dr. Remy integrates personal growth into her leadership. Her career is marked by a commitment to building a fair, sustainable global trade system that advocates for vulnerable economies.
