Head ANCA Secretariat and Africa Lead, Nature Finance & TNFD - FSD Africa
Dorothy Maseke is the Head of the African Natural Capital Alliance (ANCA) Secretariat and Africa Lead for Nature Finance and the Taskforce on Nature-related Financial Disclosures (TNFD) at FSD Africa. She leads FSD Africa’s nature finance programme, driving systemic change across the continent by supporting the development of innovative financial solutions that integrate nature into financial systems and mobilise investment towards nature-positive outcomes.
Dorothy has been at the forefront of advancing nature finance in Africa, leading flagship initiatives including the TNFD Africa Programme, which has supported 23 leading financial institutions on their nature journey, and most recently, Africa’s pilot of the TNFD Nature Data Public Facility. Her work spans mobilising capital for nature, developing investment pipelines, coordinating nature-related stress testing with central banks, supporting the development of National Nature Strategies, and strengthening the capacity of financial institutions to identify, manage and disclose nature-related risks and opportunities.
A recognised global thought leader in sustainable finance, Dorothy serves on the World Economic Forum’s Global Futures Council on Natural Capital. She is also a Director of Safaricom Money Transfer Services Ltd, Deputy Chair of the Institute of Risk Management (IRM) Global Board, and a Director of the Impact Value Standards Board (IVSB). She previously served on the Board of World Vision Kenya and has represented Africa on several international initiatives, including the Task Force on Climate-related Financial Disclosures (TCFD) insurer pilot and the Partnership for Carbon Accounting Financials (PCAF). Dorothy co-led the development of the Nairobi Declaration on Sustainable Insurance, a landmark commitment by African insurance leaders to advance sustainable development. Her contributions have earned international recognition, including being named among Kenya’s Top 40 Under 40 Women, the African Insurance Organisation’s Top 50 Women in Insurance in Africa (2022), and the Fin-Erth Top 101 Global Women in Climate (Nature & Biodiversity) Awards (2024).
She is the author of She Leads, which chronicles her leadership journey, and co-author of Becoming Nature Positive, launched in Davos in 2025.
