From Climate to Biodiversity: Mapping Nature-Related Risks for Supervisory Readiness
Environmental challenges are intensifying under the triple crisis of climate change, biodiversity loss and pollution. Co‑sponsored by Hyphen Earth and the Green Fintech Network, this session spotlights nature‑related financial risks now in FINMA’s focus. Hyphen presents its atmospheric-based monitoring, reporting and verification solution (aMRV), followed by lightning rounds from three Swiss green‑fintechs and an interactive panel linking tools to supervisory expectations and applications at financial institutions.
Framing this topic
This short section provides context for the event to ensure all participants, regardless of prior knowledge, are equipped to engage with the discussion.
The financial sector faces growing supervisory expectations to address the “triple crisis” of climate change, biodiversity loss, and pollution. FINMA has highlighted nature-related risks as a regulatory priority, requiring new tools to measure and disclose impacts. This session introduces key concepts such as atmospheric-based Measurement, Reporting and Verification (aMRV), which translates GHG concentrations into emission and removal “fluxes.” Green fintech solutions across climate, supply-chain, and biodiversity data will be showcased to explore how innovation can close data gaps, support regulatory alignment, and prepare institutions for nature-related disclosures.
