Building Bridges Sustainability Commitments
Maximum Accessibility
Building Bridges believes in creating an inclusive space where anyone can participate fully, regardless of their physical, financial, or technological limitations. From barrier-free venues to subsidized tickets and accessible digital content, we are committed to making our events open to all.
Climate-Conscious Catering
The conference features a 100% vegetarian menu, reducing our environmental footprint while promoting mindful and sustainable consumption. Our caterers prioritise locally sourced and seasonal foods. Additionally, we have adopted a reduced waste approach, ensuring minimal food and packaging waste.
Diversity & Inclusion
A strength of Building Bridges lies in our commitment to diversity & inclusivity. We focus and priortise voices from all backgrounds, cultures, religions, ages, and genders to ensure diversity amongst our speakers, participants, and event organisers. Building Bridges takes pride in providing a platform for collaboration amongst varied sectors and stakeholders to uphold our motto ‘share, learn, act’.
Reduce, Reuse & Recycle
Building Bridges is committed to minimising waste and promoting sustainability. For our Building Bridges 2024 event, we’re reusing assets from previous years, limiting printed materials, and prioritising digital-first strategies. All attendees will receive recyclable badges, and recycling bins will be placed at the exit to make it easy for everyone to recycle.
Supporting Local Economy
Building Bridges prioritises using local companies and talent, including photographers, videographers, podcasters, printers, graphic designer, web and app developers, event managers and the catering company, contributing directly to the economy of our home city, Geneva.
Transport & Mobility
Locally, attendees are encouraged to use public transportation and encourage stays at hotels within walking distance of the venue to minimise the need for transportation. Regionally, for those joining us from within Europe, we strongly encourage the use of sustainable transport options, such as trains, to minimise the environmental impact of travel. Globally, Building Bridges brings together diverse voices from across the world, and therefore flying in international speakers and participants enable us to uphold our commitments to diversity and inclusion. We encourage economy-class travel where possible, as it generally has a lower carbon footprint compared to business or first-class upgrades. By balancing global connectivity with local sustainability, we aim to align our actions with our values.
By prioritising these sustainable practices, we aim to limit emissions to make attending Building Bridges events both environmentally conscious and globally impactful.
