Voltiris
World’s first solar modules compatible with greenhouse crops.
Voltiris developed the first solar modules built specifically for high-tech greenhouses and compatible with light-demanding crops. Using spectral filtering, the modules split sunlight in two: the components essential for photosynthesis pass directly to the crops, while the unused spectrum is redirected to high-efficiency solar cells to generate electricity. A dichroic light concentrator and a custom indoor solar tracking system maximize energy output. Growers make double use of their land, combining clean energy and crop production on the same site without compromising crop yield.
Business model description: Voltiris offers two models: Direct Sales (CAPEX), where growers buy and own the solar infrastructure to maximize energy savings, and Energy-as-a-Service (EaaS), a ~15 year contract where partners cover upfront costs and growers pay only for energy generated, enabling risk-free clean energy adoption.
