Seedstars Africa Ventures
Investing in essential services for one billion Africans.
Seedstars Africa Ventures is a Nairobi-based seed-to-Series-A fund investing in companies that expand access to Africa’s essential services – internet, electricity, digital payments, credit and clean mobility – serving 100 million customers and on a path to reach one billion. Part of the Seedstars network, it draws on a decade-plus of emerging-markets experience and a deeply Africa-experienced team. Anchored by the African Development Bank and the European Investment Bank on the LBO France platform, it held a $42m first close in December 2024 and already stands at ~2x MOIC less than 2 years in.
Investment & impact strategy: We run a contrarian lead-and-follow strategy – leading rounds, reserving 65% for follow-on – and don’t shy from scalable real-world businesses and infrastructure plays others overlook, with a francophone West and Central Africa tilt where competition is thinnest. Impact: SFDR Article 8, 2X-aligned.
