Chief Responsible Investment Officer - Church of England Pensions Board

Adam Matthews is Chief Responsible Investment Officer (CRIO) and co-leads the investment team at the £3.5 billion Church of England Pensions Board alongside the Chief Investment Officer. He also serves as the Archbishop of Cape Town’s Special Envoy for Peacebuilding and is Co-Chair of the Global Centre for Peacebuilding and Business, which supports peacebuilding programmes in five conflict environments and brings together religious leaders, investors and businesses to promote peaceful, flourishing communities. Adam chairs the Global Investor Commission on Mining 2030, a multi-stakeholder initiative supported by investors representing $19 trillion in assets under management (AUM), established to develop a shared vision for a socially and environmentally responsible mining sector. He also serves as the investor representative on the UN Secretary-General’s Advisory Panel on Critical Transition Minerals, where he helped secure agreement to address mining legacy issues through pilot financing mechanisms now being advanced with the UN.
