Elizabeth Campbell

Founding Executive Director - CoAction Global

Elizabeth Campbell is the founding Executive Director of CoAction Global. She leads the development and execution of the organization’s vision to build cross-border, cross-sector partnerships that facilitate economic prosperity and resilience of communities around the globe.

Previously, she served as Deputy Assistant Secretary in the Bureau of Population, Refugees, and Migration at the U.S. State Department, where she was responsible for over $1 billion in humanitarian assistance in Africa and managed the relationships with key UN, international organizations, and civil society partners. She also served as Senior Humanitarian Policy Advisor in the Bureau of International Organization Affairs. She was Director of UNRWA’s representative office in Washington, D.C., a Senior Advocate at Refugees International, where she focused on humanitarian crises in East Africa and the Middle East, Director of Refugee Council USA, and part of the UN Refugee Agency (UNHCR) in Kenya.

Elizabeth holds a B.A. from St. Lawrence University, and an M.A. and Ph.D. in Sociology from Binghamton University. She has served as an adjunct professor at Georgetown University’s School of Law, James Madison University, and Binghamton University. She is a fellow with New America’s Future Security Program, and an Arizona State University research fellow.
