Gerardo Zamora

Executive Officer - Office of the Chief Scientist - Science Division - World Health Organization

Gerardo Zamora currently serves as Executive Officer in the Office of the WHO Chief Scientist at the Organi-zation’s headquarters in Geneva, where he works at the intersection of strategic planning, technical leadership, resource mobilization, and corporate governance. Prior to this role, he served as Executive Officer in WHO’s Division of Healthier Populations and held a range of technical and managerial positions across programmes focusing on nutrition, equity, gender, and human rights. Before joining WHO in 2014, he worked with UNESCO, the ILO, UNICEF, research centres, and government institutions in Spain and across Latin America, leading initiatives in international cooperation, health, social development, ageing, human rights, and evidence-informed policymaking.

With more than 25 years of experience at both national and global levels, he holds a Master of Science in Health Research from the Public University of Navarra (Spain), a Master of Arts in Human Rights from the Autonomous University of Madrid (Spain), and a Bachelor of Science in Sociology from the University of Costa Rica.
