Building Bridges at WEF 2026: Strengthening Collaboration for Sustainable Finance
From 20–23 January 2026, the Building Bridges team attended the World Economic Forum in Davos, engaging with global leaders from finance, business, international organisations, and civil society. The week highlighted the growing momentum in sustainability and sustainable finance, with an increasing number of events, new pavilions, and cross-sector initiatives reflecting a shift toward action and impact.
A standout moment was the evening of dialogue co-hosted with InTent, featuring insights from a distinguished group of leaders: our Chair Patrick Odier, Vice-chair Marie-Laure Schaufelberger, Karen Hitschke, Alexander Hoffmann, Daniela Stoffel (State Secretariat for International Finance, SIF), Lee Howell (Villars Institute), Celeste Saulo (World Meteorological Organization), Kirsten Schuijt (WWF), and Emmanuel Faber (IFRS). The gathering created space for honest exchange, cross-sector perspectives, and the deepening of relationships across diverse ecosystems.
Building Bridges’ CEO, Karen Hitschke, also spoke at the House of Switzerland session, moderated by Christian Frutiger. The panel explored how stronger public–private partnerships can advance humanitarian solutions and foster actionable impact. Fellow panelists included Sheba Crocker (WEF), Isaac Kwaku Fokuo (Amahoro Coalition), Josie Lianna Kaye (Trust Works), Tim Radjy (AlphaMundi) and Camila Colmenares Perez (WEF Global Shaper), highlighting cross-sector collaboration as essential for building resilient, inclusive, and sustainable financial systems.
The theme of WEF 2026 was “In the Spirit of Dialogue”, which lay at the heart of both the WEF and Building Bridges. The week’s discussions made clear that collaboration, trust, and shared commitment were key to closing the execution gap and accelerating sustainable solutions globally.
