Building Bridges contributes to Viet Nam’s Policy Roundtable on Green Finance and Sustainable Agriculture
On 28 November 2025, Building Bridges was pleased to support the Permanent Mission of Viet Nam in Geneva by connecting them with Aymeric Jung, an impact investor active in regenerative finance, for their Policy Roundtable on New Global Trends in Green Finance and Sustainable Agriculture – Policy Implications for Viet Nam.
In his opening remarks, Mr Cung Duc Han, Deputy Permanent Representative of Viet Nam, underlined how changing sustainability standards and market requirements are increasingly shaping trade, and highlighted the importance of dialogues that help provinces and national policymakers stay informed of emerging trends in green finance, sustainable agriculture and climate risk. He noted that such exchanges strengthen Viet Nam’s capacity to enhance competitiveness and deepen cooperation with partners across the ecosystem including other government, UN system entities, the private sector and beyond.
Aymeric joined speakers from the WTO, OECD, World Economic Forum and Forest Stewardship Council, offering practical insights on how blended finance can help channel capital towards projects that deliver measurable social and environmental outcomes. With reference to the latest report from Systemiq on “Returns on Resilience”, he highlighted how blended finance and regenerative investment models can unlock capital, demonstrating that financing nature-positive solutions can generate measurable returns.
WTO expert, Marc Auboin, Chief, Trade and Macro Finance; Secretary, Working Group on Trade, Debt and Finance, outlined how shifting tariffs, supply chain adjustments and new sustainability standards are influencing global trade patterns. Patrick Lenain, Senior Consultant of the OECD presented the scale of Viet Nam’s long-term investment need: USD 2.4 trillion by 2050, to meet its green transition objectives, particularly in energy and climate resilience. Braulio Eduardo Morera, Head of Strategy and Resilience Solutions for Food, Water, and Clean Air, Centre for Nature and Climate, of the World Economic Forum highlighted Viet Nam’s leadership in low-carbon rice systems, showing that improved productivity, reduced emissions and stronger water efficiency are already attracting international market interest. Jessel Marc, Chief Engagement Officer of the Forest Stewardship Council (FSC), emphasised the growing importance of certification and traceability in meeting market requirements, managing deforestation risk and complying with the requirements of high-value export markets.
The event also underscored that local responses are central to tackling global challenges with three provincial leaders sharing their perspectives. Phung Thanh Vinh, Vice Chairman of the People’s Committee of Nghe An participated in person at the Mission, making a notable point to “not leave anyone behind” with this green transition – especially important in his province of over 4 million people. Leaders from Hai Phong and Hue provinces joined online, each highlighted the pressures of climate change, from typhoons to coastal erosion, and the need for investment in sustainable agriculture, green and digital infrastructure, and locally adapted resilience strategies. Their contributions demonstrated how provincial action can drive national progress when supported by the right finance and partnerships.
Overall, the roundtable reinforced a shared message: sustainable finance is essential for future competitiveness, cooperation across sectors and regions accelerates learning, and investing in resilience generates long-term value for communities, nature and the economy.
Building Bridges extends its thanks to the Permanent Mission of Viet Nam for convening an open and constructive dialogue and for the opportunity to contribute to this important exchange.
