Stephen Freedman

Head of Research and Sustainability, Thematic Equities - Pictet Asset Management

Steve Freedman has been a certified Warm Data Lab host since 2021. He joined Pictet Asset Management in 2019. As head of Research and Sustainability for Thematic Equities, he is responsible for thought leadership initiatives as well as academic partnerships. Prior to that, Steve was at UBS Wealth Management, where he served in various roles including head of Sustainable Investing Solutions for the Americas, head of Thematic Investing Strategy and head of Tactical Asset Allocation. He started his career with UBS in Zurich in 1998 as an economist and public policy analyst.

Steve has served as the co-chair of the Finance for Biodiversity Foundation’s Impact Assessment Working Group, was a member of the board of the 2 Degrees Investing Initiative (USA), and also served on the Board of US SIF: The Sustainable Investment Forum. From 2018 to 2023, he taught environmental finance at New York University. He was the founding co-chair of the Seminar on Sustainable Finance at Columbia University between 2016 and 2019.
Steve holds a Doctorate (PhD) in economics from the University of St. Gallen. He is a CFA charterholder and earned the FRM designation from the Global Association of Risk Professionals.
