Sustainable Finance and Investment Specialist - UNDP Rome Centre for Climate Action and Energy Transition
Mpho Mataboge is a Sustainable Finance and Investment Specialist at UNDP Rome Centre for Climate Action and Energy Transition. She focuses on originating renewable energy and climate-impactful projects across Africa, leading the mobilisation of finance and supporting the structuring needed to advance them to bankable investments in collaboration with DFIs and other financiers.
With a background in banking, Mpho has worked on landmark renewable energy transactions under South Africa’s REIPPPP and across Sub-Saharan Africa. She has also advised on national climate finance strategies and helped pioneer South Africa’s Green Finance Taxonomy pilot with the World Bank. She has been recognised as one of the first World Bank CEoG Presidential Fellows in South Africa, an Open Africa Power Fellow by Enel Foundation, and has presented her research on infrastructure finance at development finance conferences.
