Klaas is a nature and sustainable finance specialist with 14 years’ expertise in sustainable finance, corporate ESG engagement and policy, with a particular interest in the ocean and blue economy. He is passionate about mainstreaming biodiversity and nature and has worked for the public and private sectors in the developed and developing world to support finance and development for a healthy ocean. His focus has been on financing the transition to sustainability, particularly in the context of integrating social and environmental pressures into risk management, and finding ways to unlock capital for the transition to a nature positive and sustainable economy. He has worked globally and locally, including in the UK, the Netherlands and across the EU, Colombia, Mexico, Mozambique, Vietnam and Indonesia.
