Dr. Mary Jean Bürer

Expert in Sustainable Development and Energy - Innosuisse

Ms. Bürer has worked for 25 years in the field of energy, climate change and sustainable development. She holds a doctorate in economics from the University of St. Gallen (HSG).

Mary Jean taught Design Thinking to more than 35 master’s students at the École Polytechnique Fédérale de Lausanne (EPFL), and worked as a project manager for 5 years in the energy sector. Four years previously, she was a scientific collaborator at EPFL, where she worked on business model innovation in the green economy. Before working on the energy transition, she worked for three United Nations agencies on climate policy (UNEP and UNCTAD) and climate science (IPCC).
