David Bresch
Professor for Weather and Climate Risks - ETH Zurich
Professor David N. Bresch is a professor of weather and climate risks at ETH Zurich and MeteoSwiss. His research explores the impact of weather and climate on socio-economic systems, combining numerical modelling with decision-making processes to strengthen resilience. Prior to joining ETH in 2016, he spent over 15 years at Swiss Re in various leadership roles, including those relating to sustainability, global partnerships and natural catastrophe risk modelling.
Professor Bresch has served on the Private Sector Advisory Group of the UN Green Climate Fund, and holds several other advisory and governance roles, including with WWF Switzerland and ProClim. He holds a PhD in Physics from ETH Zurich.
