Chris Humphrey
Senior Scientist - ETH Zurich Center for Development and Cooperation
Chris Humphrey is a senior scientist at ETH Zurich Center for Development and Cooperation and a senior research associate at ODI Global, a UK-based think tank. His work focuses on the evolution of development finance, and in particular multilateral development banks (MDBs). Chris consults extensively on development finance policy for MDBs as well as numerous governments, including Switzerland, the UK and the US. He was appointed by the G20 to the Independent Review of MDB Capital Adequacy (2021-22) and led work by the Brazilian (2024) and South African (2025) G20 presidencies on MDB reform. Previously Chris worked in operations at the World Bank’s Latin America division (2001-2008) and as a journalist based in Mexico City (1994-2000).
