Bastien Girod
Partner, Climate & Net Zero - Deloitte
Bastien has spent 20 years working in climate and sustainability. After his academic career at ETH Zurich, where he focused on climate scenarios and transitioning to net zero, he has supported various international companies on assessing their climate risks and reducing greenhouse gas emissions. He has extensive experience in developing climate regulation and helped co-shape Switzerland’s climate policy.
Before joining Deloitte, Bastien was part of South Pole, where he and his team provided tailored climate solutions to clients across Europe. He has led and delivered numerous projects that supported international companies in the life science industry with climate risk assessment, aligned with the Task Force on Climate-related Financial Disclosures (TCFD), and Science-Based Targets initiative (SBTi) climate transition planning. Bastien has also led the DACH and European sustainability consulting team at a climate consulting provider, helping companies in setting SBTi-aligned emission reduction targets, and implementing climate mitigation measures.
His research and scientific publications have focused on climate mitigation and assessing clean technologies. For 17 years, he was a member of the Swiss national climate policy committee, contributing to the development of climate policy and carbon markets. In addition to his work at Deloitte, Bastien lectures at ETH Zurich on corporate sustainability and net zero transition. He also regularly publishes articles on business and sustainability, including the environmental challenges posed by artificial intelligence.
