Building Bridges for Investing in Africa
Africa holds some of the world’s most dynamic opportunities for sustainable and impact-driven investment. Yet capital flows into the continent remain below potential. Building Bridges for Investing in Africa seeks to close this gap by shifting perceptions from risk to opportunity, connecting those interested by and ready to invest in Africa’s growth with those shaping it on the ground.

Ce programme s'inscrit dans la continuité des relations développées avec de multiples acteurs sur le continent africain grâce à nos différentes activités menées depuis 2023, en ligne, lors de notre événement phare à Genève et sur le continent africain.
Il s'agit d'un programme et d'une communauté construits avec et pour ses membres, ouverts, pratiques et axés sur l'action.

Groups convened by Building Bridges to attend major forums, build connections, and showcase investable solutions
On 2 November 2025, a 22-member Building Bridges delegation travelled to Nairobi to engage with leading investors, philanthropists and innovators during the African Venture Philanthropy Alliance (AVPA) Conference.
Ce fut également l'occasion d'approfondir les relations avec d'autres partenaires et réseaux grâce à la réception à l'ambassade de Suisse et au cocktail de connexion de l'Association africaine du marché privé (AVCA), de renouer avec le ministère kényan de l'Énergie, l'ONU Kenya et l'Alliance africaine du capital naturel (ANCA) et de rencontrer de nouveaux acteurs en marge de la conférence de l'AVPA tels que l'Innovative Finance Initiative et Delta40.

The second mission in June 2024 brought leaders together for the Bridging Africa-Europe SDG Investment Summit. Over 3 days, a delegation of private sector leaders from Europe and East Africa united to strengthen bridges for sustainable investment. This inaugural Summit was a collaboration between Building Bridges, the Embassy of Switzerland in Kenya, and the United Nations in Kenya through its SDG Partnership Platform, with support from the Nairobi International Financial Centre and Equity Bank Group. It aimed to forge links and cultivate trust to enable financing and investment pathways among diverse communities, deepening European investors’ and African stakeholders’ understanding of the region’s and the continent’s sustainable investment landscape.
The first learning exchange took place in April 2023 where our team traveled to learn more about the impact investing community in Nairobi, and exchange with financial actors who are implementing new innovative solutions to support the Sustainable Development Goals. This initial learning exchange built the foundations for this Building Bridges for Investing in Africa Programme.

Meetings organised and supported by Building Bridges and partners to advance the thematic programme
1 October, 2025, this private event was organised during Building Bridges 2025 together with the Government of Kenya, United Nations Kenya, Sustainable Energy for All and EG Capital. This roundtable was the first private sector engagement of the Kenyan Government following the launch of the Kenya Energy Compact the week before during UNGA in New-York. The roundable examined how Kenya’s USD 19.1 billion Energy Compact can serve as a blueprint for aligning government resources with institutional investors, philanthropies, and impact-driven funds.
1 October, 2025, this private session was organised during Building Bridges 2025 together with the International Finance Corporation (IFC), AHL Venture Partners and convened family office principals and investment representatives alongside seasoned practitioners to exchange real world experiences and practical insights in a safe space. By sharing perspectives across diverse experiences, participants explored not only why family offices are engaging in Africa, but how they can do so in ways that are both commercially viable and deeply impactful.
Le 1er octobre 2025, trois sessions privées ont été organisées par l'Association africaine du capital naturel et l'Initiative financière du PNUE. Elles ont réuni des fondations philanthropiques, des family offices et des institutions financières, ainsi que des plateformes africaines et des partenaires internationaux. Ces sessions ont offert un espace de confiance pour des échanges pratiques sur le déploiement de véhicules d'investissement, le développement de modèles de revenus et l'alignement des flux de capitaux sur des objectifs positifs pour l'environnement.

L'Afrique en plein essor : investir dans la nature, alimenter la planète, 1er octobre, organisé par ANCA.
Catalyser l'échelle : Investir dans des entreprises à impact positif sur la nature avec des modèles de revenus éprouvés, 1er octobre, organisé par UNEP-FI, GFI, le PNUD et BIOFIN.
Communauté d'investissement africaine
La Communauté d'investissement Afrique s'adresse à tous ceux qui souhaitent promouvoir les opportunités d'investissement durable en Afrique. En y adhérant, vous recevrez régulièrement des informations sur l'actualité, les webinaires et les événements en Europe et en Afrique. Nous organiserons également des sessions dédiées tout au long de l'année pour mettre en relation nos membres et nous envisagerons de les inclure dans les délégations d'investisseurs participant aux principales conférences africaines.
Les 24, 25 et 26 février 2026, trois sessions de réseautage en ligne avec des membres pertinents de la communauté ont été organisées autour de sujets spécifiques afin de favoriser la collaboration et d'accroître la mobilisation de capitaux vers l'Afrique.
Plus de 30 membres de la Communauté d'investissement africaine ont participé aux réunions consacrées aux systèmes agroalimentaires, au climat et à l'énergie, ainsi qu'aux marchés de la nature et du carbone. L'importance des capitaux catalyseurs, des financements innovants et des solutions en monnaie locale a été soulignée tout au long des échanges. De nombreuses synergies, tant au sein des secteurs qu'entre eux et à travers le monde, ont été identifiées. Les participants ont reçu les coordonnées de leurs interlocuteurs ainsi qu'un résumé des discussions afin de faciliter les suivis.
