This event will examine impact through listed markets and how thematic equity funds can maximize social and environmental impact. You will hear from researchers, asset managers, and corporates on how capital flows scale impact, what engagement approaches are most effective and how partnerships with the non-profit sector can help.

Impact measurement receives increasing attention from investors and policy makers, notably regarding reporting practices, choice of key performance indicators and approach harmonization. This event will discuss impact measurement approaches, including those currently developed by accounting firms, international organizations and financial institutions, with an eye to regulatory frameworks. A country-level case study will be presented.

The negative impacts of COVID on donors and emerging markets has increased the importance of mobilizing capital markets to support social development outcomes. This session will highlight some of the innovative financing solutions that are emerging to bridge barriers and increase funding for the most underserved SDGs and markets.

Recognition of the need for active removal of atmospheric CO2 is growing, resulting in increased capital commitments to nature-based sequestration and negative emission technologies. This interactive session will explore the emerging market for carbon removal, highlighting barriers to the supply and demand for long-term removals and new financing mechanisms to increase liquidity and investment.

This session explains that SDG 16 is highly actionable for the financial industry. From peace bonds to helping the real economy in a context of peace-building, panelists from very different types of organizations will highlight the interest of creating a peace oriented financial ecosystem in Geneva.

Moving to a net-zero world will require massive capital to enable high-emitting sectors to decarbonize. This event aims to shed light on the understanding of transition finance in the Swiss context and explore how prepared the Swiss financial sector is to meet the financing needs of domestic companies that are highly exposed to the transition.

Investing in women is still perceived as generating sub-optimal financial returns. Yet, investing in women is essential to supporting global recovery post COVID-19, achieving the SDGs, and improving business performance. This event aims to share lessons learned from SheTrades’ capital providers already doing gender lens investing and discuss remaining gaps.

This session will discuss how the financial sector can use its leveraging power to contribute to a just transition towards environmentally sustainable economies and societies for all. It will specifically look at the social dimension of just transition and how financial actors can incorporate just transition aspects in their decision making.
