Systemic challenges require systemic answers, but the dominant funding practices are ill-suited to support them. Social entrepreneurs tackling complex systemic issues therefore struggle to access the funding they need to carry out their mission. This event aims to raise awareness on this mismatch and explore innovative practices to address it.

Securing enough resources to address decent work challenges remains an immense task for reaching SDG 8. In this session, we will highlight business opportunities for improving labour and working conditions and discuss how the financial sector can support. We’ll explore how investors can incorporate decent work measurement in their decision-making.

Transition financing by the private sector can and should play a major role in mitigating climate change. Highlighting the importance of economic structures and availability of technologies allow for financing estimates. These fundamentals are key for political discussion among all stakeholders, not only in Switzerland but in every economy.

The SDGs and Paris-agreement were crafted for governments so putting them into action can be a challenge for the finance industry. This session will explore with a panel of finance executives how they translate SDG & Impact frameworks and targets into their organisations’ rules and guidelines in the pre-investment and post-due diligence processes.

The technologies to eliminate many diseases are now available. However, the financing is not. Hepatitis C kills nearly as many as malaria, and yet not one major funder is funding the multi-billion dollar funding gap. This event will showcase countries which have used innovative finance approaches and South-South collaborations to progress towards hepatitis elimination.

The Impact Management Platform is a collaboration between the leading providers of public good standards and guidance for managing sustainability impacts. These organisations have launched a website that supports practitioners with their own impact management practice. This workshop will explore the individual actions of impact management, and explain the relevant standards and guidance for each.
