Chief Sustainability Officer & Group Historian - UBS
As Chief Sustainability Officer, part of UBS Group Sustainability and Impact led by Beatriz Martin, Christian leads the implementation of UBS’s sustainability strategy across the three overarching strategic pillars: Protect, Grow, and Attract. He works closely with the businesses and functions to ensure UBS continues to be positioned to deliver its ambition to be a leader in sustainability for its clients and the firm.
Christian is also Secretary to the UBS Corporate Culture and Responsibility Committee (CCRC), assisting its Chair, UBS Group AG Chairman Colm Kelleher, in supporting the UBS Board to fulfil its duty to safeguard and advance the Group’s reputation for responsible corporate conduct.
Finally he is UBS’s Group Historian, a role in which he acts jointly with the firm’s long-term archives team as center of competence for activities and questions pertaining to UBS’s history.
Christian has worked on a large range of sustainability topics and regularly gives workshops and presentations on sustainability in general and at UBS, as well as on specific topics and issues, also including on the history of UBS. Prior to joining UBS in 2003 Christian taught history at universities in the UK and New Zealand.
