Samuel Baumgartner

Samuel Baumgartner has experience in a range of investor- facing roles including fundraising, on-site due diligence and investment structuring and working with emerging markets since 2006.

He is a frequent keynote speaker and guest lecturer on sustainable and impact investing, at Universities and industry conferences - passionate about educating people on the impact their money can make.

Mr. Baumgartner initiates and hosts the "Make your Money Move" Webinar series. The series provides a starting point and toolkits for a broad audience to get involved in sustainable investing.

He holds a Bachelors Degree in Business Administration (HWZ, Hochschule für Wirtschaft Zürich) and a Masters in Finance focusing on sustainable finance at the University of Zürich.

Leticia Ferreras Astorqui

Portfolio Manager - Allianz Global Investors

Leticia Ferreras Astorqui is a portfolio manager in the Allianz Global Investors’ Development Finance team, which manages over USD 3bn of commitments. She joined AllianzGI in July 2020 to help expand AllianzGI’s presence in Emerging Markets through various development finance strategies. Before working for Allianz Global Investors, Ms. Ferreras Astorqui was in a rotational analyst program at Citi where she ended up working with public sector institutions that focus on promoting exports internationally and support large infrastructure projects globally. This is where Ms. Ferreras Astorqui discovered her passion for infrastructure and energy (i.e. real assets) and the significant positive impact promoting these sectors can have especially in developing countries. She then went on to work in project finance and renewable equity projects but overall, her roles have involved investing in developing countries, across real assets and in cooperation with the public sector.

Emmanuel Etaderhi

Senior Vice President - FC4S Lagos

Emmanuel Etaderhi’s work experience of over twenty-five years spans across the Financial Services and Power & Energy Sectors. Before joining FMDQ in 2014, he worked as Head, Financial Advisory & Economic Research at Financial Derivatives Company Limited; Head of Research at Keystone Bank Limited; Acting Head, Strategy/Chief Economist at Unity Bank PLC and Special Assistant to the Finance Commissioner, Delta State. Mr. Etaderhi has held several positions in FMDQ including, Group Head, Market Regulation, Group Head, Government & Regulatory Regulations/Project Manager, Debt Capital Markets Development (DCMD) Project and Divisional Head, Economic Development. He was seconded by FMDQ to act as the Executive Secretary, FC4S Lagos with effect from January 2, 2020.

Joanne Manda

Senior SDG Investment Advisor - UNDP AFRICA

Joanne is the Senior SDG Investment Advisor in UNDP Africa Finance Sector Hub (AFSH) supporting countries to accelerate investments that align with SDG goals. Prior to joining the AFSH, Joanne was the Regional Advisor: Climate Change and Innovative Finance based in UNDP Indonesia’s Innovative Finance Lab (IF Lab) where she was providing technical advice on financing SDGs. Joanne is passionate about fighting climate change and generating development results by leveraging innovative financing mechanisms. Over the past eight years she supported countries in Asia Pacific to strengthen planning and budgeting systems and implement public financial reforms that incentivize climate action.

Oscar Njuguna

CEO - Nairobi International Finance Center

Oscar Njuguna is the Acting Chief Executive Officer of the Nairobi International Financial Centre (NIFC), a new business environment created to attract investment and support innovation. Mr. Njuguna is a lawyer with 25 years international experience in financial services, policy and regulation. After studying and qualifying as a solicitor in London, he worked in the banking and insurance sectors before joining the Financial Services Authority. Following this, he spent nine years supporting the development of the financial sector in Qatar before moving to Kenya at the end of 2017 to lead the establishment of the NIFC.

Mark Halle

Senior Advisor - Nature Finance

Mark is a Senior Advisor with NatureFinance. Following two years with the CSCE, he has devoted his career to the environment and sustainable development, beginning with five years in UNEP’s Policy Planning Division. He spent four years in WWF-International’s Conservation Division, with responsibility for building its programmes in China and as conservation advisor to HRH The Prince Phillip, Duke of Edinburgh. There followed fourteen years at IUCN. He left IUCN to establish the International Institute for Sustainable Development (Europe) where he remains Senior Fellow. Mark was Senior Advisor to the UNEP Inquiry into the Design of a Sustainable Financial System.

Nikita is the Co-CEO of Insta Products and oversees the sustainable growth of INSTA's new ventures and expansions. Her vision is to fight for zero hunger in Africa one child at a time. She is passionate about building local supply chains and ending the cycle of malnutrition.

Hortense Mudenge

Chief Strategy Officer - Kigali International Financial Centre

Hortense Mudenge is the Chief Strategy Officer of Rwanda Finance Limited, the company promoting and developing Rwanda as a leading financial destination for international investment and cross-border transactions in Africa. Hortense is a seasoned management consultant, with over 10 years of experience in advising international development and private-sector clients on business and market development. Prior to joining Rwanda Finance, Hortense worked with Dexis Consulting Group and the Global Alliance for Improved Nutrition, as a consultant, providing technical expertise in the delivery of donor-funded investment programs and grant facilities.

Stephen Nolan

Managing Director - Financial Centers 4 Sustainability (FC4S)

Stephen is Managing Director and Head of Secretariat for three networks. These include the Financial Centres for Sustainability (FC4S) Network.FC4S also serves as the secretariat to the Asia Pacific Economic Cooperation’s (APEC) Sustainable Finance Development Network (SFDN), which works to support the development of sustainable finance in the 21 APEC economies. Stephen also oversees the Sustainable Insurance Forum (SIF), which is a global network of 37 insurance supervisors and regulators working together to strengthen responses to sustainability and climate change challenges facing the insurance sector. Stephen is a member of several international sustainable finance Committees.

Yann Groeger

Regional Director of Africa and Latam at BlueOrchard Finance - BlueOrchard Finance

Yann is the Regional Director of Africa and Latam at BlueOrchard Finance. He joined BlueOrchard from ProCredit Group where he worked for 13 years in management of ProCredit banks in Africa, Latin America and Eastern Europe. He has served on board of directors of ProCredit Ghana and Banco ProCredit in Colombia and has extensive experience in SME finance, among others having developed programs for agricultural and green finance in Mozambique and Colombia. Apart from his managerial positions, he has been involved in setting up a professional training institution in Africa

Damilola Akinnayajo

Damilola Akinnayajo has diverse work experience spanning various industries. Most recently, they served as the Head of Partnerships & Growth at Bankly starting in February 2023. Prior to that, they founded a company called Spices by Asabi in 2020, where they focused on creating and selling healthy and delicious meal spices sourced from local farmers in Nigeria. Damilola worked as a Fintech and Business Solutions Partner at ProvidusBank from May 2022 to February 2023. They also held roles at Sterling Bank Plc, starting as a Sales Associate in November 2015

Habiba Ali

Founder / Managing Director - Sosai Renewable Energies Company

Habiba Ali is the managing director and CEO of Sosai Renewable Energies Company, one of the largest distributors of renewable energy in Nigeria. Sosai Renewable Energies provides renewable energy products like solar lamps, water purifiers and solar panels, as well as energy consulting services to help bring clean, renewable energy solutions to Nigeria’s budding communities. Ali also co-founded the Developmental Association for Renewable Energies (DARE), and is a member of the Partnership for Clean Indoor Air and the Nigerian Energy Network. She holds an MBA and a bachelor’s degree in accounting.

Ifeanyi Ossai

Co-founder and CEO - CribMD

Ifeanyi Ossai is an Ambassador of the Institute for Economics and Peace (IEP) and Founder of CribMD, a Digital health consultation platform. He pioneered advanced technology and data-driven insights in Nigeria to revolutionize construction supply and procurement through Indigeneex Ossai secured $2.5 million in venture capital funding from investors to expand CribMD which later acquired Charisland Pharmaceuticals group to tackle the counterfeit medication epidemic

Vincent Lehner

Head of Markets - Symbiotics

Vincent serves as Head of Markets for Symbiotics. In this position he manages a team of 50 people that prospects and analyses financial institutions’ potential social and economic returns and keeps abreast of impact investment trends. He previously spent five years in Cape Town as Symbiotics’ Regional Manager for Africa and extensively covered Latin America and Eastern Europe as an analyst. Previously, he worked in South America and Eastern Europe as Supply Chain and Operational Project Manager for Nestlé, reviewing the production and optimizing the internal processes of the company’s regional entities.

James Mwangi

Chief Executive Officer - Equity Group Holdings

James Mwangi is a Kenyan born accountant, career banker, businessman and entrepreneur. He is the current CEO of Equity Group Holdings. Mr. Mwangi was included among The Financial Times' 2009 list of the top 50 thought leaders of emerging markets and the top 20 most influential people in Africa. He was the Founding Chairman of Kenya Vision 2030 Delivery Board from 2007-2019, tasked with ensuring Kenya became a middle-income country with high living standards by 2030. Mr. Mwangi is a Presidential National Task force member on the Kenya COVID-19 Emergency Response Fund and Chair of its Health Committee. He is also the current Chancellor of Meru University. Mr. Mwangi graduated from the University of Nairobi with a Bachelor of Commerce Degree, and passed the Certified Public Accountant of Kenya (CPAK). He also graduated from the advanced management programme at the IESE Business School in Barcelona.
