Co-Founder and Managing Director - Mandulis Energy

Peter BenHur Nyeko is Co-Founder and Managing Director of Mandulis Energy, which turns agricultural residues into reliable electricity, organic biochar fertilizer, and durable carbon removals, through hybrid solar and biomass minigrids. Anchored in Northern Uganda with a base in England, Mandulis has operated its flagship Got Ngur plant since 2021, powers rural health centres in refugee-hosting communities, and holds a confirmed pipeline of dozens of bankable sites in rural farming communities.

Mandulis is a World Economic Forum double Top Innovator, for Humanitarian and Resilience Investing and for Circular Economy Solutions. It is developing Africa’s largest grid-tied biomass gasification power plant, and won the Innovate UK Energy Catalyst, announced at COP28, and the DFCD Scalable Climate Solutions Challenge at COP26.

Born in Uganda, with family from the refugee-hosting districts where Mandulis works, Peter is an aerospace engineer trained at the Universities of Bristol, Cranfield, & the West of England; and is currently completing the Executive Applied Masters in Tech for Good Entrepreneurship and Innovation at Ecole des Ponts Business School. He serves on Uganda’s National Research and Innovation Programme Steering Committee at the Office of the President and is Incoming Global Co-Chair of the New Carbon Economy Consortium. His governing principle: carbon finances the mission, it must not replace it.
