Patrick Egli

Deputy Head Humanitarian Aid Division and Chief of Staff Humanitarian Aid Division, Federal Department of Foreign Affairs FDFA - Swiss Agency for Development and Cooperation SDC

Patrick Egli was appointed in June 2026 as Deputy to the Federal Council Delegate for Humanitarian Aid. In this role, he provides strategic advice to the Delegate for Humanitarian Aid and the Swiss Humanitarian Aid Unit (SHA) and heads the staff office of the Humanitarian Aid Division.

Previously, as Head of the Economy and Education Section, Patrick was responsible for SDC’s strategies on Private Sector Development, Financial Sector Development, and engagement with the private sector. He also served as Deputy Director of Cooperation in Bosnia and Herzegovina, where he led the strategic development of the Swiss cooperation programme and managed the economic, infrastructure, and migration portfolios. Prior to this, he was Deputy Head of the Global Institutions Division, where he was responsible for defining and implementing SDC’s multilateral strategy. Patrick also worked as an Evaluation Advisor in the UNFPA Division for Oversight Services, contributing to the development of methodologies for assessing the performance of UNFPA country programmes.

Patrick holds a Master’s degree in Economics from the University of Basel and a Certificate of Advanced Studies in Development and Cooperation from the Swiss Federal Institute of Technology (ETH Zurich).
