Nathalie Fontanet

State Councillor, Department of Finance, Human Resources and External Affairs - Canton of Geneva

Nathalie Fontanet has been a State Councillor since 2018, in charge of the Department of Finance, Human Resources and External Affairs. With 20 years of political experience, she first served on the Geneva City Council from 2003 to 2009. In 2007, she was elected to the Grand Council of Geneva, where she served until 2018.

Nathalie Fontanet has been particularly committed to promoting complementary childcare options, including both daycare centers and childminders, and to ensuring that the canton applies federal law regarding patients’ freedom to choose their hospital. She has also actively advocated for improved public safety in the canton.

After devoting 14 years to raising her children, Nathalie Fontanet began studying law and subsequently qualified as a lawyer. From 2006 to 2018, she worked as Deputy Director within UBS’s Legal Department, where she developed substantial expertise in both finance and law.
