Mark Rüegg
Chief Executive Officer - CelsiusPro Group
In 2008, Mark Rueegg founded CelsiusPro, an Insurtech company dedicated to simplifying access to financial protection against climate and natural catastrophe risks. The company was built on the conviction that climate change is a defining global trend and that new forms of risk transfer are essential to help businesses and communities manage increasing climate volatility. Prompt relief after extreme events is critical. CelsiusPro enables rapid payouts through parametric insurance, providing pre-agreed financial protection without the need for traditional loss assessments. The solutions combine award-winning technology, climate data science, and advanced risk modelling, making it easier for insurers and brokers to structure and distribute parametric protection.
Following the acquisition of Global Parametrics Ltd, Rueegg became CEO of the CelsiusPro Group, bringing together technology, underwriting expertise, and risk capital to scale parametric solutions globally. The group deploys risk capacity through several vehicles, including the Natural Disaster Fund (NDF), a public-private partnership supported by the UK and German governments with matching support from Hannover Re and MS Amlin, strengthening climate and NatCat resilience across the Global South. Rueegg began his career at Swiss Bank Corporation and UBS. He holds the CFA and CPCU designations and an Executive MBA from the University of Rochester.
