Laura Clavey

Research Officer (Nature and Adaptation) - Grantham Research Institute on Climate Change and the Environment, London School of Economics and Political Science

Laura is a Research Officer at the Grantham Research Institute on Climate Change and the Environment, at the London School of Economics and Political Science. Laura splits her time across GRI’s Adaptation team and the Earth Capital Nexus.

Laura contributes to the EU’s Naturance project, exploring innovative insurance solutions for nature-based solutions, and the Zurich Climate Resilience Alliance (2025–2027), funded by the Z Zurich Foundation, leading LSE’s input on financing pathways for implementing nature-based adaptation and resilience interventions. Laura leads EarthCap’s research on the role of nature investments vehicles in scaling and mobilising private finance for investment in nature.

Prior to joining the Grantham Research Institute, Laura was a Senior Manager within the Taskforce on Nature-related Financial Disclosures, responsible for leading the development of TNFD’s measurement architecture and developing technical materials and guidance on the assessment and disclosure of nature-related issues corporates and financial institutions.

Laura also developed the Climate Disclosure Standards Boards’ Biodiversity Application Guidance, which assist companies in the disclosure of material risks and opportunities related to biodiversity, and was part of the team that developed the British Ecological Society’s landmark report on nature-based solutions for climate change within the UK.
