Symbiosis brings a disruptive solution by combining mixed native species plantation with a continuous forest cover management approach. Producing high-quality wood from commercially extinct native hardwood, carbon, seedlings, and biodiversity in a vertically integrated operation from genetics to end-product. Mixed species are more resilient and productive than monoculture, and continuous forest cover management keeps biodiversity, carbon, and wood stocks at higher levels compared to clear-cut. Symbiosis established the first and largest commercial genetic improvement program for native tree species.
Business model description: The strategy is to grow organically with strategic partners set up in subsidiaries producing 1 million VCUs and 2.0 million m³ of hardwood per subsidiary. Symbiosis as the holding company will provide the best-in-class seedlings for the subsidiaries, services and offtake the timber production.
