In Switzerland, the aim of achieving net-zero greenhouse gas emissions by 2050 is enshrined in the Climate and Innovation Act. At BCV, we view this responsibility as being fully aligned with our mission as a cantonal bank to contribute to the sustainable development of our region.

In line with Switzerland’s goal of net-zero, we have set specific targets for our mortgage lending and asset management businesses. In mortgage lending, we are seeking to reduce the carbon footprint of our residential mortgage book at a pace consistent with Switzerland’s pathway to a net-zero building sector by 2050. And for our client investments, we aim to align 28% of assets in our discretionary management solutions and investment funds with the target of net-zero emissions by 2050.

To reach our targets, which are set out in our sustainability policy, we have introduced numerous initiatives such as offering preferential terms on mortgage loans for energy-saving renovations and providing a range of socially responsible investment products. Of course, our success in meeting these targets depends largely on factors beyond our control, but we intend to continue aligning our efforts with Switzerland’s net-zero target.
