Head of Sustainability Strategy Development - AXA

Marika Rueter is Head of Sustainability Strategy Development at AXA with 15+ years of experience spanning the energy, construction and financial sectors, with roles at local, regional and holding levels within CAC40 companies. Since 2021, she has been developing the sustainability strategy of AXA with oversight of governance and investor relations. Namely, she has led the design of the sustainability strategy released in 2024 (3-year cycle), and supported the development of a long-term corporate vision (10-year horizon), aiming to identify how to reshape the business model through the lens of sustainability and seek new ways of creating value. Prior to this appointment, she held operational roles across a range of expertise (incl. design & construction management, scheduling & project coordination, and environmental certifications) for strategic projects of Bouygues Construction before joining the international building division as Quality and Environment Manager, later expanding responsibilities of the department to Sustainability. In her early career, she worked at Total where she first started engaging a network of 100+ affiliates and participating in defining the corporate strategy on society-related topics and improving stakeholder engagement with pilot initiatives.
