Lavine Irvine is the CEO and co-founder of Coastal Biotech (CBIIO), building East Africa’s first integrated seaweed biorefinery in Zanzibar, Tanzania. Before founding the company in 2023, she spent eight years as a data scientist across pharmaceuticals and financial services, specializing in data-driven decision-making, process automation, and operational efficiency at scale. Under her leadership, the company partners with governments, research institutions, and global agribusinesses to commercialize seaweed-based bioactive derivatives.
