Huo Rongrong

Chief Sustainability Officer & Head of Africa Team - Green Accelerator

Rongrong Huo has over 20 years of experience across the sell side and buy side, primarily based in London and Hong Kong with extensive international experience. Most recently, she served as Managing Director, Head of International Business, and Head of the Investment Institute at Ninety One plc, a global active asset manager dual-listed in London and Johannesburg, where she has been based since 2018 and worked across the UK/Europe, Asia, Africa, the Middle East, and North America.

Previously, Rongrong spent 12 years at HSBC’s investment banking division, where she co-founded the bank’s Green Finance initiative, co-led its first green bond, co-originated the first UN SDG-linked bond, contributed to green loan and investment frameworks, and helped shape the Green Bond Principles with ICMA. She later served as one of HSBC’s initial Global Co-Heads of Sustainable Finance and as Global Head of RMB Business.

She chairs the international workstream of the City of London’s Green Finance Initiative, serves on the Senior Steering Group of the UK Government’s Green Finance Institute, and is a Board Member and Trustee of the City of London’s Guildhall School of Music & Drama.

She is a Harvard Business School (GMP) graduate, a former short-term Visiting Fellow at Tsinghua University, a Senior Associate at the Cambridge Institute for Sustainability Leadership (CISL) and has completed her PhD in Finance with EIM in 2026.
