Clemence Schmid is a global leader driving the transition from a “take-make-waste” economy to one that is regenerative, circular and waste-free.

At the World Economic Forum, she heads the Circular Economy Transformation (CET) Initiative and the Global Plastic Action Partnership (GPAP), advancing circularity across industries, materials and value chains. Her work brings together governments, businesses and civil society to rethink how resources are designed, produced, used and recovered, connecting policy, innovation, business models and finance to make circular solutions economically viable and scalable. Through GPAP, she also leads the world’s largest multistakeholder platform dedicated to translating ambition on plastic pollution into nationally driven action.

Clemence’s career has been shaped by a simple but powerful belief: solving the waste crisis requires transforming entire systems, rather than improving individual parts in isolation. Before joining the Forum, she was General Manager of Loop, one of the world’s first global reuse platforms. Earlier, she spent over a decade in global leadership roles at Procter & Gamble and other multinational companies, where she developed expertise in innovation, consumer behaviour and large-scale business transformation.

Today, she works at the intersection of industry, policy and society, building coalitions, shaping global agendas and helping turn circular economy ambition into systemic change.
