Akim Daouda is the founder and CEO of Mwaana, a venture studio developing businesses and financing models that connect biodiversity conservation with economic development in the Congo Basin. Mwaana’s flagship venture, Origin BioCode, is building a biological discovery programme in Central and West Africa, beginning in Gabon and Benin. Its approach combines scientific discovery with responsible access and fair benefit sharing.

Akim previously served as CEO and Chief Investment Officer of Gabon’s sovereign wealth fund. His work focuses on the practical steps needed to turn nature-based opportunities into investable businesses while ensuring countries of origin participate in the value created.
