Unlocking Nature Finance in African Cities

Tuesday, October 6, 2026 – Tuesday, October 6, 2026
17:00 – 19:30
Centre International de Conférences Genève - Room 10

As African cities confront rising climate risks, rapid urbanization, and growing infrastructure needs, nature-based infrastructure offers a powerful opportunity to build resilience while delivering environmental, social, and economic value. Yet too many promising projects fail to reach implementation due to a lack of investable financing structures.

Drawing on experiences from Dire Dawa, Johannesburg, and Kigali through the SUNCASA project, this interactive session brings together city leaders, investors, development finance institutions, and sustainable finance experts to explore how nature-based infrastructure can become investment-ready. Participants will discuss what investors look for, which financing models hold the greatest promise, and how partnerships can accelerate implementation. The session will conclude with a networking reception designed to foster new connections and investment opportunities.
