Emerging markets face a USD 4 trillion annual SDG financing gap, yet risk keeps commercial capital on the sidelines: only 5% of Swiss assets under management reach countries where it is needed the most. Switzerland is uniquely placed to close it: its nearly 14,000 foundations steward around CHF 140 billion in patient capital, able to put proven but underused de-risking tools to work – going where commercial money won’t and unlocking private finance. The session will draw on a White Paper from BASE’s Building Bridges 2025 session, which collected insights from 100+ practitioners on various risk mitigation strategies, including key challenges, best practices, and real-world examples.
