William Ramsay

Co-founder - Sixteen44

William Ramsay is co-founder of Sixteen44 SA, a Swiss venture working to turn methane emissions into opportunity for a sustainable future. His focus is abating methane, the short-lived but potent greenhouse gas that offers one of the few available levers for slowing warming within our lifetimes rather than over the coming century.

A PhD chemist turned executive, William has spent more than 14 years at the intersection of frontier research, technology development, and commercialization, working across Canada, the UK, the United States, and Switzerland. He joined Daphne Technology in 2019 to lead research development and served as Chief Technology Officer from 2021 to 2025, scaling exhaust gas cleaning technology for the maritime and oil & gas sectors.

He earned his PhD in supramolecular chemistry at the University of Cambridge and held a postdoctoral post at the University of Oxford, and was previously senior research scientist at Milo Sensors in California. He is based in Lausanne.
