Project Manager Sustainable Impact - Oikocredit

Ruben Leon is an impact investing and financial inclusion professional with more than 10 years of experience across Latin America. Holding Master’s degrees in Public Policy from Germany and Entrepreneurship & Innovation from Spain, he has worked at the intersection of investment, regulation, and development finance, collaborating with financial institutions, regulators, investors, and grassroots organizations to strengthen inclusive financial systems.

His professional experience spans microfinance, the solidarity economy, financial sector development, and impact management. Building a bridge between strategic investment objectives with the realities of underserved communities, supporting initiatives that deliver both measurable social outcomes and sustainable financial performance.

Since joining Oikocredit in 2022, Ruben has played a key role in advancing the organization’s impact management and measurement practices. He leads the implementation and scaling of Oikocredit’s Client Self-Perception Survey Programme, one of the organization’s core tools for understanding the outcomes experienced by end clients. Through this work, he generates evidence on how investments in financial inclusion, agriculture, and climate-related enterprises contribute to improving livelihoods, resilience, and economic opportunities.

His work supports data-driven investment decisions, strengthens accountability to investors and stakeholders, and helps ensure that impact capital translates into meaningful and measurable change for low-income communities across Oikocredit’s global portfolio.
