Inga Petersen

Executive Director - Global Battery Alliance

Inga Petersen is Executive Director of the Global Battery Alliance (GBA), the leading global multi-stakeholder platform working to establish sustainable, responsible and circular battery value chains.

She leads the GBA’s work with industry, governments, civil society and international organisations, including the development of the GBA Battery Passport – a framework designed to provide credible, comparable and independently verified information on the sustainability performance of batteries and their global supply chains.

Inga has more than 15 years of experience at the intersection of natural resources, sustainability, governance and international cooperation. Before joining the GBA, she served as Senior Extractives Adviser at the UN Environment Programme and previously worked with governments, development partners and the private sector on natural-resource governance across emerging markets. She also worked at the World Economic Forum on the transformation of the mining and metals sector.

Her work focuses increasingly on how greater transparency and credible sustainability data can strengthen investment decisions, support responsible critical-mineral supply chains and help mobilise capital towards the sustainable scaling of batteries and energy storage.
