Counsel - Ashurst Perkins Coie

Gaëlle Cognet is a legal expert and thought leader in environmental and sustainability-related legal matters, with over 15 years of experience advising multinational corporations, financial institutions, and government entities.

She currently serves as Counsel at Ashurst Perkins Coie, where she leads the firm’s sustainability practice in Paris. Her work spans climate and environmental financial instruments, emerging nature-based transactions, and the development of legislation and financial regulations on adaptation and resilience; an area in which she has built pioneering expertise, advising coastal and mountainous territories on the legal implications of climate change.

Gaëlle also acts as a legal expert for the World Bank, the UNFCCC (Article 6.4 panels), and Fusion for Energy and is a lead contributor to the French Energy Code (Dalloz). She holds an LL.M. from UC Berkeley School of Law.
