Reduciendo los riesgos del futuro: Infraestructuras basadas en la naturaleza para la asegurabilidad y la resiliencia
With climate change, infrastructure assets face ever-evolving risks. This event explores how nature-based solutions (NBS) can improve the insurability, and thus bankability of infrastructure assets, and how they can enable resilience at scale. Insurance, conservation and non-profit partners will investigate financial incentives, data, partnerships, and regulatory responses needed to unlock insurance coverage and to guarantee resilient infrastructure through nature-based or hybrid solutions.

The objectives of the session is to explore what has to change and what can already be leveraged (data, insurance products, regulation, financial structures) to recognise NBS as insurable, bankable, scalable investments. How can investors, insurers, governments, and NGOs support the systematic use of NBS to make communities, economies and infrastructure more resilient in a world facing more extreme weather events? Why are NBS not insurable at scale yet? Why are NBS not used more systematically and at scale to protect infrastructure, businesses and homes? Examples from the Global North and South will be discussed.
