Senior Investment Officer - Calvert Impact

Maya is a Senior Investment Officer at Calvert Impact, a US-based investment firm that supports fund managers and financial intermediaries globally that are championing credit strategies in their local markets. Maya has 10 years of principal investing experience in emerging markets beginning her career in small-cap private equity and segueing into private credit. She has structured, raised, and deployed capital using equity, debt and hybrid instruments and has partnered with HNWIs and family offices to align their portfolios with their personal ethos.

Before joining Calvert, Maya held several positions at Caleo Capital, a wealth management and financial services group based in Johannesburg. In 2021, Maya founded a network and alternative investment vehicle called Womvest serving women-led MSMEs in South Africa.

Maya holds an M.S. in Environment and Sustainability Management from Georgetown McDonough School of Business and a BCom Honors in Finance from the University of British Columbia Sauder School of Business. She also completed the Oxford Saïd Business School Impact Finance Innovations Program and is an alumna of the AVPA Africa-Asia Impact Investing Fellowship.
