Fred Fournier is an environmental engineering leader, a Swiss hydrogeologist with over 25 years of domain expertise, and the CEO and Co-Founder of Open Forest Protocol (OFP). Identifying the fundamental failures of legacy carbon markets – namely slow, expensive, and non-transparent Measurement, Reporting, and Verification (MRV) processes – Fred co-founded OFP in 2021. Today, OFP operates as a scalable, open-source regenerative finance platform that establishes The Digital Carbon Standard for Forest Restoration and issues high-integrity, digitally verified carbon credits.

Under Fred’s leadership, OFP has achieved global scale, monitoring 300+ registered projects across 20+ countries. Continuing to innovate, Fred recently launched NatureGrid, “The Operating System for Nature Monitoring”. Designed to bridge the gap between on-the-ground action and high-level reporting, NatureGrid combines an offline-ready field collection mobile app with a centralized web dashboard, allowing carbon, biodiversity, and conservation teams to seamlessly collect, manage, and validate audit-ready data in one unified system.

Bridging technology, climate action, and data management, Fred is a recognized industry authority and serves on the board of the Swiss Green Fintech Network.
