Frederic de Mariz, PhD is UBS Head of Sustainable Markets Advisory for the Americas and Head of Argentina/Chile. He is also Professor of Finance and Impact Investing at Columbia University and a member of the Sustainable Investing Research Institute – SIRI. He set up the sustainable finance team in 2020 and led UBS to become a leading bank for sustainable finance in Brazil. Prior to Sustainability, he was responsible for Financial Institutions & Fintech for UBS and was a Top 3 ranked equity research analyst in LatAm. Frederic has a Master’s degree from Columbia University and completed his PhD at University of Sao Paulo. He also graduated from Essec, Sciences Po and has a Masters in History from Sorbonne. He has published several books and academic articles on financial inclusion and sustainability. He is a member of the sustainability committee of Sabesp (2nd largest water utility company globally), the Brazilian Markets Association (ANBIMA) and the advisory board of the International Capital Markets Association (ICMA).
