From 20–23 January 2026, the Building Bridges team attended the World Economic Forum in Davos, engaging with global leaders from finance, business, international organisations, and civil society. The week highlighted the growing momentum in sustainability and sustainable finance, with an increasing number of events, new pavilions, and cross-sector initiatives reflecting a shift toward action and impact.

Building Bridges’ CEO, Karen Hitschke, also spoke at the House of Switzerland session, moderated by Christian Frutiger (Swiss Agency for Development and Cooperation). The panel explored how stronger public–private partnerships can advance humanitarian solutions and foster actionable impact. Fellow panelists included Sheba Crocker (WEF), Isaac Kwaku Fokuo (Amahoro Coalition), Josie Lianna Kaye (Trust Works), Tim Radjy (AlphaMundi) and Camila Colmenares Perez (WEF Global Shaper), highlighting cross-sector collaboration and private engagement as essential for building resilient, inclusive, and sustainable financial systems.

The theme of WEF 2026 was “In the Spirit of Dialogue”, which lies at the heart of both the WEF and Building Bridges. The week’s discussions made clear that collaboration, trust, and shared commitment are key to closing the execution gap and accelerating sustainable solutions globally.
